I even tried to knock it down into the toaster. There was no way. The holding trays were much too wide. The next morning i made toast with it. It did a great job. Toasts perfectly across the entire slice of bread. The next morning i made a bagel. I would have to say it was the most perfectly toasted bagel i've ever had using the bagel setting. My old toaster would almost burn the outside or bottom of the bagel just to get the cut side toasted enough. Not this one! toasted well on the cut side and just perfectly hot on the bottom side. A few days later i made a toaster strudel using the frozen setting. Worked perfectly. The outside toasted just right and the inside not scorchingly hot. The only deduction i would give this toaster is that when it pops up, it does not pop up as high as the trays will go. It does leave the food down too far but all you have to do is raise up on the lever and it does lift it up high enough to easily get the food out without burning yourself. Overall this is a fantastic toaster and i am very happy i did not spend $100 for the kitchen aid. So are there two different builds of this toaster? because the one i got does not have gaps big enough for anything to fall down into. .
