Well, on the first one the button was actually a lever, but it acted like a button. The top knob was oven temperature. All the way to the left was off, and all the way to the right was broil. The temperature range went from around 150 to 500. The bottom knob was toast darkness. All the way to the left was barely toasted at all, all the way to the right was burned to a crisp. The button. Made toast. Not just toast, perfect toast. Every time. I preferred somewhat light toast so i set the toast selector to about 11 o'clock and just left it there and got perfect toast, every time. It didn't matter what kind of bread it was, it didn't matter if it was frozen, i just stuck the bread in, hit the button and got toast. I didn't have to fiddle with the knob or adjust anything. Hit the button. Get toast. After my second black & decker gave out, i started looking for a replacement. About an hour later i was ready to tear my hair out.
